What is a Rapid Antigen Test, and How Does it Work?

The rapid diagnostic test kit is intended for point-of-care testing that directly detects the presence or absence of an antigen. It is also known as a rapid antigen detection test, rapid antigen test, or simply a rapid test. Antigens in the body can cause an immunological response.

PCR assays are more sensitive than rapid antigen testing. This means that quick antigen testing has a larger risk of false-negative results than PCR tests. Rapid antigen testing is more sensitive in persons with symptoms than in people who don't have symptoms.
